When mum and dad go to watch PAW Patrol...
I love going to the cinema. So does Paul. Before we had children cinema was our thing. We used to go every single week without even knowing what was showing; we'd watch anything just for the experience. Back then (about 6 years ago and counting) they didn't have the unlimited cinema passes that are available now, but if they did we would totally own one. Back then the new wave of luxury cinemas was just starting too, there was only one of those relatively near to us and it was mighty expensive too.
So last weekend we were all kindly invited to attend a preview screening of the new PAW Patrol film PAW Patrol: Mighty Pups and of course I said yes as Joseph is obsessed with the pups. But what really sold it to us as grown-ups was the cinema experience - the screening was held at the Showcase Cinema de Lux Bluewater, an XPlus screen (basically a wall to wall ginormous screen), next generation projection, Dolby Atmos Sound AND reclining seats with massive leg room space. And the toilets were amazing (I'm a sucker for nice toilets when we go anywhere!).
Joseph and his friends loved the film! PAW Patrol is such a household name in most homes and now they have super powers too... Joseph barely blinked watching it. It was pretty cool! If you want to catch it for your little ones, it will be released on the 17th May 2019. Natalia is only 1 so she didn't really watch it, but she loved walking up and down the spacious isle in the dark, popcorn in hand. And she LOVED meeting the mascots pups and the colouring activities they spoiled us with before the screening!
Paul had a little snooze during the film, I'm not going to pretend it didn't happen. But I blame it on those reclining seats, they are might comfy and Paul just got too comfy. If I didn't have the 1-year-old to contend with I would have snuggled with him too!
The thing is... Paul and I left really hoping we could go back to our cinema days now that we have discovered the best in cinema experience. But there's the kids, we have limited childcare and the baby doesn't really like anyone else but me putting her to bed. So our cinema days are limited for now... and actually we wouldn't change it for the world. We know that only day we will wake up, they'll be at uni and we will have all the time in the world for cinema trips and we will wish they were still here.
But it's nice to know we can all go together to watch family friendly films and still be all cosy, in comfy seats with our popcorn. And so nice for the kids to experience cinema at their young age and get to appreciate an art form that a lot of people are missing out on by choosing to watch everything on the small screen.
So here's to many, many more trips to the cinema with the kids!
